It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

{By January that sentence is gonna be a broken record cuz I’ve been saying it every day…}

I’m not one to get excited about the holidays but Christmas can be a joyous time of the year… with the right folks. I reflect back on my life and a lot has changed. The holidays have a different meaning for me now days. Post college, I’ve spent the first four and a half years celebrating Christmas with my ex-boyfriend’s family. Those holidays was full of food, love, laughter and more food! Once we’ve separated, I’ve spent a few Christmases alone (mostly by choice). So there wasn’t much to look forward to expect for the fact that I’ll have the apartment to myself and I can order take out and binge watch on the Gilmore Girls series on Netflix.

Now I have a small tribe of sister friends and the Holidays are fun again. Most of us are single and childless with a lot of free time. This season I’m all about creating new memories, basking in the joy of the season and being grateful for every blessing.

Last week, Make Meaning Studio in Bethesda gave me an opportunity to host a Girl’s Night Out decorating gingerbread house party. I jumped right on it. I invited a few of my single ladies who were free on Friday night.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by super friendly staffers who were extra hyped. (My guess is they ate a lot of the candy that was set out before we got there). I absolutely loved their energy. The studio was ready for us. A long table was set up with pre-set gingerbread houses to decorate. There was another table full of candy. I felt like a kid in Willy Wonka’s shop!

Some of the ladies free-flowed their design, putting candy and frosting on any available space. Other ladies, like myself, pondered for a good long while before adding the next piece of candy. No lie, we ate a bunch of candy in the process. It was so much fun. We were all laughing and cracking jokes, high on sugar and having a great time.

This was such a FUN Friday night activity. Great for ushering in the holiday vibes and reasonably priced. The neat thing about Make Meaning Studio is they have a variety of hands-on activities you can do that is fun for everybody ages 2  to 102. Soap making, ceramics, painting, glitter tattoo and more.
