Ginger Peach Sangria :: Part 2

Today I finally got around to creating the sangria I've been craving: ginger and peach. A few weeks ago I volunteered with Onely Winery and helped poured wine to guests at a festival. As a thank you, I received a complimentary bottle of wine of my choosing. I went ahead with their Georgia Peach Chardonnay. I am NOT a fan of chardonnay and I'm NOT a fan of sweet wine. I don't know if the summer heat is to blame or not but after a few sips, I started to all for this sweet nectar. After a few more sips, I had a hankering to mix some ginger beer in there.

This isn't my first rodeo. I attempted my first ginger-peach a few years ago

Recipe: Super simple. Three parts wine and 1 part ginger beer.

I also made a pact with with myself to eat as much red cherries I could stand this summer. Because...summer. Also because...they are yummy. So I threw a bunch in my wine for good measure.

Results: Tasty and refreshing. I loved the kick the ginger brought to the mix. At first thought I decided against adding peach schnapps to the sangria but after finishing a glass, I wish I did do that because while the ginger beer provided a balance to the sweetness of the Chardonnay, I wanted the peach flavor to stand out more.
