Brunch at Local 16

Yesterday, I went to Local 16 for brunch. I took advantage of a $15 deal for an entree and unlimited mimosas. Great deal!

I love this neighborhood! (U & 16th) I got super lucky and scored a parking spot right in front of the restaurant. Once I entered, I was surprised to be met by a gentleman who was carding all the guests. I absolutely hate getting carded. Give me the wine I ordered and keep my glass filled. Don't ask me any questions.

I was promptly seated but it took a good 8-10 minutes to wave down a waiter to order my coffee. I'm a bald chyck in a bright red shirt. Really, its hard to ignore me.

When my drinks arrived, I sipped on coffee and mimosas while I waited on a friend to arrive. After 40 minutes it was clear I was getting flaked on/stood up so I went ahead and ordered. I was debating for a good 15 minutes between wood fired pizza or french toast with fresh strawberries. I was craving both! After seeing the french toast that was served at the table next to me, I knew I had to get it. It looked sooooo good. I was right. It was moist and delicious. My only gripe was I wish there were more strawberries on my plate.

Four mimosas and two cups of coffee later, I had to use the bathroom. Which was located upstairs. I used this chance to browse. Wow, this restaurant is spacious! Additional dining upstairs as well as an outdoor patio. I walked into the bathroom and I was shocked. I felt like I was in another world. The restaurant's decor is nice and elegant with cool art. The bathroom is...well.. Grungy.

Then I had a moment of deja vu. I've been in this bathroom before! Wait... I've been to this restaurant before. But it wasn't a restaurant. It was a club. I came here many moons ago with Lisa Pizza and changed clothes in this bathroom when I arrived to party immediately after a work shift. Hmmm... Was it called Local 16 then? Does this place transforms into a club?

Anyway... I enjoyed my experience there and even though it was crowded, I didn't feel pressured to leave. Luckily I brought a book and was able to enjoy my brunch for two hours. That was until my hand slipped and I spilled the 4th glass of mimosa on my lap/blackberry.

Welp. Time to go!

Beautiful brunch. Beautiful people. Awesome staff. Great prices. Yummy food! (Did I mention I couldn't finish all the french toasts?)

I would definitely return. And next time sit at the bar dining solo.
