Thursday Travel Tip

Label your stuff!

Your laptop, camera, bag, jewelry box, passport, wallet, etc.

The picture is a little blurry but you get the idea. I put address labels on all of my valuables when I travel. Three weeks ago, I left my brand new camera in a rental car. Within a few hours, I got a call from the rental agency informing me they have located my camera. I didn't even know it was missing until then!

No matter how careful you are, you're bound to slip up at one point and lose or misplace something. There are still a lot of good people in the world that would honestly contact you and return your belongings if they had a way to get in touch with you.

Another example: My mom had her book bag mistakenly stolen from the overhead bin in the airplane. The bag contained her brand new laptop, camera, phone charger, etc. She did not have a label or address tag on her stuff. It took a few days for her to get her book bag back after the person realized he or she picked up the wrong bag and finally contacted the airline. That was a hard lesson for Ma to learn.

Was EVERYTHING that was in her bag returned to her?
